In August 2016, the Group successfully secured planning consent for a residential-led mixed use development on our 15.5 acre site in the London docklands. The Group has now commenced this exciting and transformational development, with an estimated timeframe to completion of between five and eight years. Furthermore, the Group has also submitted an application for a revised scheme, creating an extremely high quality mixed use development of exceptional architecture, boasting excellent levels of sustainability and public open space.
The revised scheme plans to deliver approximately 1,500 new homes - more than double the consented scheme making a significant contribution towards meeting the Mayor of London's housing targets, with the provision of a range of sizes and tenures of dwellings, including 35% on-site affordable housing – more than triple the amount of affordable housing compared to the existing scheme. In addition to over 1,500 new homes, the scheme will deliver a 1,200 place secondary school, community centre, crèche, doctors surgery, ground floor retail and commercial space together with two new public parks.
Demolition of the previous printworks on the site has been completed and construction of basement and ground works has commenced, ensuring delivery of housing from the revised scheme as quickly as possible following grant of consent.
The completed development will create hundreds of new jobs for the area across a range of office and retail sectors and a variety of occupations – this figure excludes employment associated with the secondary school. In addition, it will provide 2.49 hectares of high quality publicly accessible and semi-private open space of varying types together with 5,365 sqm of children’s play space.
The new open space will be in the form of new public parks, plaza, gardens and promenades, including significant improvements to the dockside promenade, widening works, the provision of landscaping and the creation of waterside restaurants and bars to activate and re-invigorate the waterfront.
The Group looks forward to delivering this exciting and transformational project into the heart of London docklands.
