This development will be a vibrant new waterfront neighbourhood for London, just minutes from Canary Wharf. It will provide over 1,500 new homes, two new parks, a 1,200 space secondary school, sports facilities, an appealing mix of independent retailers, restaurants and bars, a community centre, a crèche and healthcare facilities - with a sense of neighbourhood at its heart.
The homes will be available for purchase or rent and will include affordable housing within the development. This is part of a 15.5 acre development of the former Westferry Printworks which closed in 2011. Over 70% of the site will be beautiful open space for local people and residents to enjoy.
The Westferry Printworks project is Northern & Shell's flagship property development project rejuvenating this historic area of London Docklands.
The project is spread across 15.5 acres and blends beautiful architecture with cutting-edge sustainability features. The project contributes to urban regeneration goals and much needed affordable housing targets in London.
The new open space will be in the form of new public parks, plaza gardens and promenades. In addition, the project will improve the dockside promenade, widen local access roads and provide high quality landscaping.
By creating over 1,500 new homes, Westferry Printworks will contribute significantly towards the area and the Mayor of London's housing targets.
In addition to facilitating a 1,200 place secondary school, Westferry Printworks will deliver a community centre, crèche, doctors' surgery, ground floor retail and commercial space, together with two new public parks.
Building upon Northern & Shell's roots within the print publications industry, Westferry Printworks will create hundreds of new jobs. In addition, it will be creating acres of high-quality, publicly accessible and semi-private open space on a previously disused, brownfield industrial site.
